If you could invite three people (living or dead) to dinner — who would you choose and why?
February 19, 2025 | Sparkle Wednesday
There’s nothing like breaking bread when it comes to getting to know someone. The dinner table is where stories unfold, ideas collide, and connections deepen. Add great food, fine wine, and a lively mix of personalities, and you’ve got a party with a capital P.
This is one of those questions where my answer changes with the wind—Leonardo da Vinci, Maya Angelou, David Bowie, George Gershwin, Chris Farley… so many choices.
But tonight, I’m in a musical mood. To be clear, these aren’t necessarily my all-time favorite singers (though I do love them), but they’re three people I think would make for an unforgettable dinner party.
My Dream Dinner Guests:
🎤 Ella Fitzgerald – The Queen of Jazz (she was a singer and a composer). Imagine the stories she could tell! And that voice—what if she graced us with a song between courses?
🎸 Dolly Parton – Not just a country legend but a natural-born storyteller. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and always seems to do the right thing. Plus, maybe she’d bring a Dolly pie for dessert!
🌙 Stevie Nicks – Every great dinner party needs a little mystery and magic. Stevie would bring her ethereal energy, mystical perspective, and wild Fleetwood Mac stories. I hope she’d show up in a flowing velvet dress and scarf, adding just the right amount of witchy vibes to the evening.
And if I’m lucky? Maybe—just maybe—this magnificent trio would invite me to join in on an impromptu jam session between courses. What would we sing?
Of course, now that I’ve written this, My guest list has already changed.
What about you? If you could invite three people (living or dead) to dinner, who would you choose and why?
I would invite Barbra Streisand, Idina Menzel, and Hannah Waddingham. What a joyful lunch that would be.
Yes, to all those people, may I come? As for me… Snoop Dog, Writer and Egyptologist Barbara Merrz, and Harry Houdini.
