It's the day after Christmas, and we're recovering from food comas at the Hirst Carnes household. We've been cooking for days! Our Christmas celebration ended on Monday night with a delicious pot of bœuf bourguignon. Wowza!

David often tells me I tend to go “the extra mile" or, as my boys put it, I’m “extra.” Yep, that's me. I admit it. I do tend to go a little “extra.” Suddenly, a casual get-together becomes an elaborate extravaganza, or a simple task turns into a project.

I often even schedule aggressive due dates at work, just so I can't go over the top, adding more and more to the task.

• I’m kind of obsessed with lighting and have been known to change the settings in public.

• ALWAYS tracking my habits on my big calendar.

• Never, ever letting my car get below a 1/4 of a tank. (I listened to my Dad.)

• Being a meerkat and scanning the horizon - always and forever.
