Happy almost–Independence Day! Since July 4th lands on a Friday this year, most of us are lucky enough to have the day off. (Sending love to those of you in hospitality or other roles who are working! We appreciate you!)

There’s just something extra luxurious about a long holiday weekend in the middle of summer. No early morning alarms on July 5th? Yes, please. That includes you, Django.

That got me thinking: What simple summer joy — like popsicles, hammocks, or fireworks — always lifts your spirit?

I’ve got a couple!

Lately, I’ve been loving foraging for mushrooms in the woods. That’s what I’ll be doing at some point over the long weekend. It’s like going on a hike with a mission — a little adventure with nature. Another joy? The “Shaken, Not Stirred - Spicy” iced coffee (cold brew, espresso, some cayenne syrupy mixture, frothy oat milk, over ice) from Curioso Coffee. It’s my go-to summer pick-me-up, especially on Wednesdays (a.k.a. dog day at the café), which makes it even better. You can bet I’ll be swinging by after my walk today!
