This question comes courtesy of my sister, Susan. Thanks, Susan!
When I was a kid, our stereo system, comprised of a turntable, amplifier, and speakers on shelving with albums below, was in our dining room perfectly positioned so you could hear the music throughout the house.
Our stereo saw a lot of action. Between my parent's collection of classical recordings, musicals, and a couple of stragglers from Jim Neighbors (I think my dad liked him because his voice sounded like Jim’s), and my older brother and sister's pop/rock albums, there was quite a bit to listen to.
My sister, Leslie, and I would sing along to records (cue up the Rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar"), reading from the liner notes until we had the lyrics down pat. One song I still know EVERY SINGLE WORD to is "Twisted" by Joni Mitchell, from the Court and Spark album. Give it a listen if you're not familiar.
What about you? What song do you know every single word of?
I listen to music almost nonstop, so there are several songs I feel this way about. My all time favorites are October Sky by Yebba and Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. On a very different note, my go to karaoke songs are Its All Coming Back to Me Now by Celine Dion, Kiss Me Thru the Phone by Soulja Boy, and Dancing Queen by Abba!
Every song from the album Tapestry by Carole King.
