Memorial Day is just around the corner, marking the official start of summer 2025. I don’t know about you, but this is hands-down one of my favorite seasons. The whole summer stretched out ahead of us, full of possibility, and we’re finally able to strip off our heavy coats, sweaters, and gloves we’ve been bundled in for months.
Of course, you wouldn’t know it from today’s weather. It’s blustery, rainy, and downright chilly. Yesterday there was a pot of homemade soup simmering on the stove in the kitchen. Fingers crossed that’s the last pot of soup on the stove until next fall.
But sunny skies are on the horizon (or so I keep telling myself). Soon enough, we’ll be basking in sunshine, trading sweaters for sandals, and diving headfirst into all the joys of summer.
Here are some things on my 2025 bucket list this summer.
Forage for wild mushrooms in the woods
Catch Iron & Wine under the tent at Big Top Chautauqua
Explore and wander through the Midwest Folk Festival
Spend a weekend at my sister and brother-in-law’s cabin with the whole Hirst sibling crew
Pitch our tent and sleep under the stars
Perform with LSD at The Dakota
Set up the backyard projector for outdoor movie nights
Savor a perfect summer-in-the-city day: morning at the farmers market, sunset at Bde Maka Ska, and dinner al fresco
Enjoy our studio at home with the windows wide-open
Make a getaway to Grand Marais and breathe in the North Shore air
What about you? What’s on your 2025 summer bucket list?
What an amazing list! When do you perform at the Dakota? I’d love to experience that, the Dakota is a happy place for me! My hopes are to kayak, hang out in Lanesboro, visit the Japanese gardens, have lunch with my big girl at a cities rooftop restaurant (she’s always wonderful, but her magic is most amazing in the sunshine), picnic with the hubs (I have a very cool picnic basket that I don’t get to use enough), garden, sit by the fire for morning tea, and go to an art fair.
This being my first summer back in MN, I have MANY items on my bucket list for the summer. I definitely want to go to a twins game, hit the state fair (my atl friends are visiting for this!), and spend lots of time at the lakes! Another big one for me is kayaking down the st croix at Taylor’s falls. I did this a few years ago and it was such a fun experience! So definitely looking forward to doing that again. And the list goes on!
