**This one's for you, Auntie! You asked this question at the cabin over your delicious dirty martini dip and je ne sais quoi cocktails. Haha! BTW - I still want those recipes!
Here we are at the end of August, and Labor Day is around the corner. Why are we always surprised when summer is fleeting and goes so quickly?
When my boys were younger, I would get a little down at the end of summer. Returning to early mornings, homework, and regular bedtimes was always a little sad. Now they're grown (Leo's a senior in college!!), and my life doesn't change too much but, still, I'm not gonna lie; I still feel a little down saying goodbye to summer.
One thing I appreciate about getting back into the “back to school” schedule is that weekends feel a little more special. Let's face it: Some days are better than others, right? My favorite day is Saturday, followed by Friday, Sunday, Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, and Monday - meh. I digress.
I'm looking forward to a long Labor Day weekend with nothing (at least planned) on the horizon. Here's what a "perfect” Saturday morning looks like for me.
Sleep in a tad (just a little; I still like to get up early)
Drink coffee in bed while doing the New York Times News Quiz
Give Ziggy a walk and grab a fancy coffee along the way
Enjoy a relaxing yoga sesh at home
Turn on some music and putter in the kitchen (this used to be the way I’d wake up the boys in a more subtle way)
Grab brunch or lunch with my family or friends
What about you? What's the “perfect” way to spend Saturday morning?
I love Saturday mornings. I try to go to the Saint Paul Farmers Market, maybe hit up an estate sale. I'm always looking for treasures. I/we take a longer than usual walk or bike ride, come home and make lunch, maybe soup or salad and read/eat on the porch. Oh, coffee- yes. Always.
I love Saturday mornings! I usually wake up around 8 and take my pup on a long walk. After that, I usually walk over to the farmers market in my neighborhood and get some local produce! Sometimes I do this with friends and we’ll pick up some coffees and go for a walk, and others I like to lounge on my balcony reading for the rest of the morning!
