What's your earliest memory?

Recently, I had a conversation with someone involving a very early memory. We remembered things differently and were both “certain” that our version was correct. Lol.

It turns out this is really common. In fact, according to the Association for Psychological Science, most people's earliest memories are fictional and open to personal interpretation.

Maybe our earliest memories are just fragments of early experiences cooked up with nostalgia. Perhaps you remember feeling sad, swimming at the pool, or a birthday party, and then your memory is formed after seeing some photos or hearing a story or two?

This got me thinking about early memories.

One of my earliest memories was the “pinking shears incident”. Jeff, Susan and I were cutting paper with Mom’s pinking shears. I’m pretty sure Jeff was doing the cutting and Susan and I were holding the paper. Somehow my knuckle got cut. I remember crying like a banshee! I still have the scar on my right ring finger. It looks like a little wishbone. 😭

One of my earliest memories was going to a department store to get my picture taken. People used to do that.. I didn’t cooperate and mom wouldn’t take me to the candy department in the store. I cried and kicked the backseat in the car all the way home. 😂 I think so was 4. Another early memory was also when I was 4. I was a flower girl in my wonderful Aunt’s wedding. I remember being in a small room where the bride and bridesmaids were fixing their make up. I thought it was all so glamorous.
