It's the most wonderful time of the year…I heard that song yesterday (thanks, David) and thought, is it? Is it REALLY the most wonderful time of the year? I'm not sure, but I do love the holiday season - gatherings, good food, lights and decorations, a freshly-cut tree, music, and of course, holiday movies.
One of my favorite holiday movies is "Trading Places" with Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, and Jamie Lee Curtis. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a good fish-out-of-water story. In this case it’s a double fish-out-of-water story! Plus, it's a subtle holiday movie. Christmas is in the periphery. There's no big holiday message (well, maybe, there actually is one), and one pivotal scene is at an office holiday party (funny!).
If you haven't seen it or it’s been a long time, give it a go. Warning! It's a little cringy at times, but still incredibly funny!
What about you? What's your favorite holiday movie, and why?
For me, it’s an even tie between The Polar Express and The Holiday! Two very different movies, and I’ve already seen both more than once this year!🎄❤️
John’s favorite Christmas movie is the Christmas Story with little Ralphie. He wants a BB gun & his Mother thinks he will shoot someone’s eye out. Mine is Home Alone. The first one. It reminds me of a family with 5 kids who left their dog on a picnic table while on vacation & drove away. We always embellish this story & say one of the kids got left behind. Of course they remembered & came back to rescue the dog. Merry Christmas.
