What's your strategy for passing the time at the airport or on a long road trip?

We're heading home from Reykjavik, Iceland, today. We're all packed up and getting set to head out to catch Bus 3, then on to the Airport Direct Bus at the BSI bus terminal, and then finally to the airport back to MSP.
When I have a big day of traveling in front of me (actually, the flight from Reykjavik to Minneapolis is only about six and a half hours), my routine typically looks like this:
After getting through security, I take a walk and get some steps in. If the airport is small, this may involve laps. I check out every food option before deciding if I want something to eat. Finally, I zone out and people-watch, listening to all the beautiful languages. Airports are great for this, aren’t they? It's fun to imagine where people are coming from or where they're going.
Once I've boarded the flight, like a computer powering down, I shut down and try to sleep until we land.
When I was a little kid, we'd mostly travel by car. I remember the giant stack of books piled at my mom's feet — her way of passing the time.
What about you? What's your strategy for passing the time at the airport or on a long road trip?
I love traveling & don't have a set routine but I usually people watch or read on my kindle. Getting in steps is a great idea Lisa & I like doing that as well. I love long flights because I can read with no interruptions with a cat nap here & there. By car I just eat snacks & look at the world passing me bye.
When I travel by plane, I always make sure that my kindle is fully charged and has a few books loaded on it! Most of the time when I fly, I'm doing it solo, so I tend to use that alone time to catch up on my reading. I like to be to the airport early, so I always pack snacks in my bag and hang out at the gate while I wait for my flight to board. For a while, I played a lot of sudoku and did crosswords on flights, but lately, I've found that I prefer reading to help pass the time!
I hope you guys had a fun time in Iceland!
