I'm a sucker for The New York Times’ “Sunday Routine” series. I’m not sure why I find it so fascinating, but I do. There’s something compelling about seeing how remarkable people spend their Sundays—often doing beautifully ordinary things. I remember reading about Courtney Lavine, a ballerina with the American Ballet Theatre, and loving how she talked about simple routines like going to the dog park and curling up on the sofa to binge Netflix.
I try to keep my Sundays as open as possible, free from obligations. It’s a day to slow down.
My morning usually starts with a good cup of coffee, yoga, a good sit, and a long walk—similar to weekdays, but with the luxury of time. I let my practice unfold at a relaxed pace.
There are always a few errands to tackle to set up the week ahead, which often includes a trip to The Wedge Co-op, where we stock up on essentials and grab a couple of salads for lunch from the deli.
After lunch, I like to tidy up—just enough so the house feels refreshed for the week ahead. I also make time for music, whether playing alone or with David.
In the afternoon, I try to get outside again for some fresh air and a walk. I’m a little militant when it comes to walks.
Dinner on Sundays is something special. Cooking is my love language, and I enjoy making a meal that feels a little extra.
After dinner, I unwind with a relaxing bath or shower and take some time to “sharpen the saw” to mentally reset for the workweek.
By 9:00 PM, David and I settle in to watch a favorite show. Lately, we’ve been indulging in a rich, velvety mushroom hot cocoa—our little Sunday night treat.
Before lights out, I always end the day with a book, letting my mind slow down before drifting off to sleep.
What about you? What’s your Sunday routine?
