You can plant just three things in your garden, but whatever you choose will thrive and produce a bountiful crop. What are you planting?

Last week, a few folks at ArcStone made the trek to The Friends School Plant Sale. If you’ve never been (I haven’t either), it sounds less like a plant sale and more like a music festival — people camping out overnight, wristbands, food trucks, and best of all, just about every plant you can imagine.
Between the buzz about the infamous plant sale and Mother’s Day weekend aka the unofficial kickoff to gardening season here in Minnesota — I’ve been bitten by the grow-your-own bug. Which brings me to this week’s question.
If I could only plant three things, I’d go with a generous crop of heirloom tomatoes (perfect for salsa, sauces, and more), Mr. Lincoln roses (I’d pick peonies, but their growing season is way too short), and basil, because you know pesto, Chimichurri, Caprese salads, and pizza, need I say more?
Now it’s your turn. What would you grow?
I love this question! Very hard to choose though... I'd say dahlias (my favorite flower), starfruit (I know it's tropical, but there are no rules when it comes to Sparkle Wednesday...), and—I'm right there with you—basil!
I actually planted some basil and tomatoes in my backyard yesterday :) I cannot wait to make some pesto and watermelon salad. Maybe even a basil-lime gimlet? So many options!
Fabulous question and I’m curious about the Friends plant sale… sounds exciting! My hubby made me a beautiful planter with walk in fencing. Purposeful growing is my thing and I use all my earthly gifts with thanks. If I had to pick only 3, hmmm… I’d choose summer squash because it has many purposes and is good for gut health, arugula lettuce because it’s hard to find in my small town and I love it, and chives because they’re cool and fun to use in the kitchen. Incidentally, those are the 3 in my new raised bed. 🫶
