Asking the question of sunrises vs. sunsets is the epitome of triviality. Measuring subjective beauty is inherently challenging—it's like comparing one breathtaking wonder to another. Let's face it: it's pretty ridiculous, but I’m going to do it anyway. The question of sunrise vs. sunrise is tricky, and my answer changes depending on the day.
Last Sparkle, I mentioned our recent trip to Mexico and getting up early to watch the sunrise every. single. day. We set the alarm to wake up early, made the pilgrimage down to the beach (after grabbing coffee, of course, because, you know, priorities), and waited to see how that day would unfold. Every sunrise was different and marvelous.
After a couple of days, we began to see other ‘sunrise’ regulars. We'd give each other a nod and wait for the sun to shine.
I appreciate sunrises because they take some effort. Either you're still up from the night before, which would take lots of effort at this point in my life, or you're getting up early with the birds.
Of course, I love sunsets too. One particularly lovely one that comes to mind this morning occurred at my sister's cabin on Grindstone Lake after a delicious dinner with my family. The colors were breathtaking, and watching the light fade away was captivating, leaving us in complete darkness. Stunning. Being surrounded by loved ones didn't hurt either.
Today, I'm voting for sunrises. Tomorrow- who knows?
What about you? Are you more of a sunrise or sunset person?
I’m in Aspen sitting here at Apres’ ski get together & asked 5 people what they are? 4 are sunset & 1 is sunrise. The sunrise guy is an MD & he is an early bird. The rest are nite owls. 💕
I am more of a sunrise person in my "regular" life as I'm an early riser. I love being up when other people aren't. I just love mornings in general- it's my high energy time of the day and a beautiful sunrise is the icing on the cake. If I'm on vacation, I do enjoy a sunset and like Lisa, I would say I'm most aware and in awe of the beautiful sunsets over Grindstone Lake in northern Wisconsin. And, after sunset comes a beautiful star filled sky which I don't see as often living in a city. Good question, Lisa.
