I love a good weekend with nothing on the horizon, free to do whatever I want. But it’s also fun having plans with friends and family.
For me (and maybe you, too), being over-scheduled isn’t great, and when it happens, I see the consequences in my life. It usually results in feeling rundown, not being mindful, and living in a messy space. On the other hand, being too rigid and routine with your time can feel boring and safe. So…
What’s ideal? For this week's question, we’re kickin' it old school with a perennial question. What's your ideal day? How does it start, unfold, and end?
I don't know if it gets better than a summer morning, some strong french press and a breakfast sammy, a little guitar with my roomies, hit the beach around 2 pm, afterwards find a taco truck, driving home with all the windows down and the perfect song, a little afternoon reading/cat nap, then all get our summer attire on to hit an outdoor concert. We'd end the night in the backyard with a bonfire or on a patio somewhere in MPLS.
In other words, boy am I excited for summer.
So it really varies for me, but today I feel like playing basketball with my sons at a small court we discovered on one of our trips to St. Martin. A little game of 3 on 3 - the Carnes boys versus some locals. Then Lisa (my wife) would join us for lunch at a beachside restaurant in Grand Case. After that, I'd relax with a good book under a beach umbrella until time for happy hour together. Then we'd gather for drinks and grill ourselves up a great meal poolside where we'd eat under the stars and enjoy music and companionship into the evening.
