We’re doing “March Madness: Song Wars” at ArcStone right now — it all started with the question, “What’s the best song, right now?” Totally impossible to answer, of course, but super fun to try.
Between that and a little road trip to the driftless area of Wisconsin near Avoca, I’ve been listening to a lot of music lately.
Maybe it’s the winding roads or just the mood I’m in, but I’ve been gravitating toward some pretty intense songs. Here are two I’m really into today:
Unpeopled Space by Daniel Rossen
Grace by Jeff Buckley
What about you? What song are you loving today?
I’ve been learning Clair de lune on the piano so have enjoyed listening to lots of classical music in my car & at home. I love anything by Debussy & it is the slow number of his Suite Bergamasque but has been the most popular. The song is actually from a poem by Paul Verlaine inspired by a painting by Jean Antoine Watteau. It was written in 1882 & revised in 1905. I just looked it up because I love it so much. It’s about life & love. Have a listen.
The song that’s been stuck in my head for a few days is the 80’s hit You Gotta Be by Des’ree. It has a simple, but great piano part and the vocals are dynamo.
