I click the most with people who can laugh easily, be silly, are down to earth, and have a passion for something.. because that is my energy! I’m lucky to have some life long friends from middle school, college, and ones I’ve only recently met who feel like a forever BFF and they all have qualities that I would want for myself. Bonus if they like Harry Potter, food, and the outdoors :)
I have all kind of friends. Life long, new friends, old friends, casual friends, true blue friends, I guess I just love meeting people. My Mom said to me once, no one stays a stranger to u Mary Ann. One big thing, I lost 2 best friends in the last 2 months. Remember to pick up the phone & say hello. U never know.
My partner and I have moved a lot. When we get to a new place we find the library, museums, and hiking spots. When my oldest was 3, we were again in a new place and heading to story time at the library. Hand in hand we walked up the stairs behind another mom and her 3 year old daughter. The mom spoke to her daughter as a person; a conversation was happening between them, and I knew I wanted this person to be my friend. When we got settled, I approached and said, I respect the way you speak to your daughter, we are new to town, would you like to get together for coffee? We have been best friends for 25 years, and our daughters are not only friends, but now sister-in-laws. So, I seek friends who treat everyone with dignity and respect.
I look for someone who is open, loves to laugh, someone who is positive, and someone who is a good listener- I like to think I am those things to my friends.
