Ever since the pandemic and remote work started, I have a very detailed morning routine that I LOVE. Immediately upon waking, Odin and I snuggle in bed (David is usually up and at em already) for a few minutes. Then it’s to the bathroom for a spa like face routine - ice roll, gua sha and alllll the lotions and potions. Next, I turn on classical radio and make coffee. Whole coffee brews, I chug a water and do some light stretching. For the next 20-30 ish minutes I journal and read. As soon as Odin starts to do his morning stretches, I know it’s time for a walk. Then the day has officially begun!
Actually, I have no real morning routine. But my she-dog does —for Zuca is an on-the-dot reminder of the walk—, so I turn that into a ritual which moves its time a bit forward or backward just enough to remember each day is unrepeatable. We take a different route each day out of our available paths and, many a time, I let her choose which one to go in accordance with the fresh smells of a particular morning. And just follow the wind.
We wake up around 8 am & after brushing our teeth we sit in our bedroom & have coffee upstairs & do our daily reading together. Could be lots of different articles but always something positive & usually spiritual. Then we discuss daily plans & then it's off to the races. Life is great when you're retired. Hope Ziggy is recovering well & will be home soon.
Mornings are often my favorite part of the day! First thing when I wake up, I brush my teeth, wash my face, and put on a cozy outfit. Then, Mellie and I go for our morning walk and I talk to my mom on the phone. I've read that the blue light on your phone can be really bad for your dopamine levels when you first wake up, so I try to stay off my phone as much as possible until after I get home from our walk (I even have a red light filter that I put on my phone from 9 pm to 9 am!). After Mellie and I get home from our walk, I make some breakfast and read my book while I eat. I'm also trying to get into morning yoga so TBD on that!
My morning routine also revolves around animals. I first give Roo Cat scritches and then let the dogs out. Then while I make tea,(black lavender for me) I feed and water Hazel pup, Ollie dog, and Roo. I sit with my tea before I do my meditation and yoga and listen to a favorite podcast while getting ready.
I hope everything is okay with Ziggy 💗thinking about that fluff ball of joy and hope he’s recovering well!
